Charles and Emily will try to stop him. Dave’s performances have dropped off slightly since his very impressive debut on Friday. Is a rebound forthcoming?
Meanwhile, the last two quarterfinals in the Jeopardy National College Championship air tonight on ABC at 8:00 PM Eastern/Pacific. (7:00 Central/Mountain). Yesterday’s episode—which saw quarterfinal #9 and quarterfinal #10—saw a significant amount of abuse heaped on contestants online. This behavior from Jeopardy! fans is shameful. Jeopardy! contestants are normal people who have gone on a game show. They aren’t Kardashians. Judging someone and heaping abuse on them on Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit based on what you see in 22 minutes of television is unacceptable. As Michael Davies wrote last week, “Jeopardy! is about excellence, and shouldn’t the discourse around the show reflect that same spirit?” Be better, Jeopardy! fans. Be better.

The Reign of Terror took place during the French Revolution between September 1793 and July 1794, where the Revolutionary government decided to take harsh measures against those seen to be enemies of the Revolution (nobles, priests, etc). During this period, 17,000 were killed—the period ended with the arrest and killing of its de facto leader, Maximilien de Robespierre.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- My favorite Jeopardy! truism: Contestants underbet Daily Doubles and overbet Final Jeopardy. Even had she not taken the lead with her bet, Emily should have listened to her “YOLO” instinct and bet more on the final Daily Double. At the very least, an extra couple of thousand would have taken her out of Stratton’s Dilemma, and would likely have led to a victory for her on this Triple Stumper.
- Meanwhile, Dave didn’t bet enough in Final: he needed to bet at least $1,400 in order to have a chance at victory against Charles. Especially in a must-win game for his Tournament of Champions chances, this was a pretty egregious gameplay mistake. (Playing for second, which is what Dave does here, does absolutely nothing.)
